Mathew Magneson

Singer/Songwriter, Producer, Film Scorer

Bio

Mathew Magneson is a 24 year old Métis Singer/Songwriter, Film Scorer, and Producer from Toronto, Ontario. He has worked as a composer and sound designer in film, theatre, and multi-media content and has been writing and producing since he was sixteen years old.

Mathew’s latest single, “Light Of Day” serves as a bridge between Mathew Magneson's roots as a songwriter and his passion for film scoring. His journey in this direction began with his debut single, "Eyes Forward," where he collaborated with renowned percussionist Satnam Ramgotra, known for his work with Hans Zimmer and artists like Pharrell Williams and Sting. Satnam's addition of frame drums and auxiliary percussion instruments used in major film scores like "Dunkirk" and "Man Of Steel" opened Mathew's eyes to the potential of cinematic elements in contemporary music.

This experience has significantly influenced his artistic direction. In "Light of Day," Mathew has incorporated these cinematic elements to craft a sonic landscape that is both intense and exhilarating, echoing the fear of feeling trapped in life. By utilizing percussion and atmospheric elements reminiscent of film scores, he's aimed to create a sense of grandeur and drama not often found in alternative-rock music. This interplay of elements captures the duality and confusion inherent in the quest to discover true desires in life.
